Our client was a very large leisure complex with a triplex sectional steel tank with each compartment sized at 7.2 x 4.8 x 3.6m. The tank had been coated with a bituminous paint which had reached the end of its useful life leading to extensive corrosion.
To facilitate safe access, we first installed stainless steel low level access hatches, which were welded into place
As the client needed the total project completed within 19 days, it was decided to carry out the preparation work by abrasive blasting.
All joints had a ‘stripe coat’ of DWPU applied, to build up a nominal thickness of 3 – 5mm in these critical areas. This was followed by a base coat of DWPU applied to all internal surfaces at a nominal thickness of 500 micron.
The above was repeated with a top coat of DWPU.
